A little About Me
Hi! I’m Chanda - a Day Dreamer
A freelance watercolor artist fascinated by ever changing nature around me and vivid of beauty of colorful culture and environment across beautiful countryside of India. I have traveled almost all across India and hence am tempted to capture the my impression and expression with every dance of my Escoda brush on handmade paper. Controlling the agility of watercolor along with volatility of atmospheric effects such as brilliant light, strong shadows, rain, mist etc. and the ever changing topography and demographics of India has invigorated me for more than a decade to paint.
Nature fascinates me and hence I paint in fairly impressionistic style, mostly landscapes, mountainscapes, seascapes, fascinating temples and obviously the flowering season of springs.
My Life and Me
I hail from beautiful quaint village nestled in the middle Himalayan range of Uttarakhand and have traveled across India.
I was born in small but beautiful sea side town of Khambhat in Gujarat and completed my schooling partly in Khambhat and Baroda and graduating in Science from the famous M S University of Baroda.
Married to a Geologist, moved on with him to financial capital of India i.e. Mumbai, in the bustling city where I started teaching students Computer Science in School.
With my first child we moved on small town of Sivasagar in Assam. I spent three years venturing and absorbing the virgin beauty surrounded with lush green paddy fields, abundant rivers including the mighty Bhramaputra, majestic tea gardens, the rain forest of Arunanchal Pradesh, fold belts of Agartala and Nagaland. Snow clad mountain peaks on way to Baba Harbhajan Singh Temple at Nathula Pass, the splendor beauty of frozen Tsongmo Lake, the ride on Yak from Gangtok, the toy train of Darjeeling.
Chennai saw my passion take over my professional life, ART took over my stint as graphic and website designer, leaving the tablet and mouse behind moved on to hold back the simple graphite pencil and then splay of colours. Last decade saw me indulging and participating along with learning from great artists from Chennai and then many others during various workshops, now I can boast of accumulating a plethora of friends during my association with my artist friends at Chennai Weekend Artist.
